Review methods are as follows. If any deviations occur, I will make note of it in the post itself.
Flower:
Flower will be denoted based on what medium it comes in. I tend to stick with prerolls and dime-bags to get a feel for things, but will buy an eighth if the price is right and/or I’m interested in the brand/strain.
Note: My tolerance is EXTREMELY low, due to copotentiation with medicine that I’m on. Seriously, think like a sixteenth of a teaspoon. So, because of that, I roll spliffs. All spliffs are rolled with Bugler rolling tobacco (unless otherwise noted) and Rizla Red single wide rolling papers (unless otherwise noted). I also use Raw filter tips to prevent tobacco/cannabis from getting into my mouth and providing a slightly smoother smoke.
All pre-rolls are taken apart. I can’t smoke them whole because it’s just too much for me. They are unrolled by using tweezers and scissors to get the cannabis out into a jar, which is then labeled with the manufacturer, strain, and THCa percentage. Reviews will typically require up to seven spliffs to fully analyze. I know that this makes it hard to taste the flower on a true level but I have to make compromises to be safe so that’s how it’s going to have to be. If the flower is in bud form, I will be grinding it with a SharpStone grinder.
Concentrates:
I typically do not do concentrates as they’re too strong for me. I will entertain brick hash at best but for the most part I do not do concentrates. Truth be told…I also can’t afford the rigs to do them. Titanium is expensive. This may change in the future as money/tolerance allows.
Vaporizers/Vape cartridges/AIOs:
This is relatively new to me but I will be reviewing them. I have a PAX Era Go for Pax cartridges and a Vessel Craftsman in Slate/Walnut. I don’t know MUCH about vape cartridges/AIO vapes but I’m willing to try them. Again, methodology follows the same lines for flower: seven sessions, at least, before a review. I also have a Pax 3 with a dry herb atomizer which I am also considering throwing into the mix if I’m feeling spicy but we’ll see where that goes. If I do get a vape to review that doesn’t come with a cartridge, I will choose a cartridge that I’ve tried before in order to evaluate it and will make it known who makes the cartridge, what strength it is, what strain it is, and where I got it.
Gummies/Edibles:
I’m not the biggest fan of edibles, per se, as I don’t like the uptake and titration of the dose on them (meaning I don’t like how long it takes to dose and how uncontrollable the dosing is). That being said, I am open to try them. Standard dosage for me would be 5mg, potentially 2.5mg to start as I’m not familiar with your game. Thus, some edibles may need to be cut/separated in order to do a review dose. I will try to be as exacting as possible when cutting but this is the biggest deviation I can think of, honestly. I’m trying to limit variables but this is a big one. If it’s an edible, it will be cut into an appropriate dosage. If it’s a drink, I will only drink enough to get a 5mg dose if the can contains more than 5mg. This one you’re gonna just have to trust me on because I can’t honestly bust out lab-grade equipment to measure this stuff so it will have the most variation of the group.
Tinctures/Salves/Etc.:
Not necessarily my wheelhouse, much like edibles, but I’m open to trying them. I’ve found that CBD does not affect me much, even with entourage effect, so I tend to stay away from CBD-only products. However, I am willing to try measured doses of tincture and topical salves on a case by case basis, provided I can dose appropriately.
Incidentals/Ancillary:
This would include things like papers, tips, and spliff fillers. This will be done with a standardized strain of the moment (i.e. something I’ve reviewed before and am comfortable with using as a control). I will make sure to let you know what is changing. I prefer single wide papers and slim filters as my spliffs are not very big. Grinders, I prefer metal, preferably aircraft-grade aluminum or steel, three stage at least.
Misc.
I don’t think I’m missing anything but if I am, I will review it on a case-by-case basis. There’s always new and exciting things come out to the cannabis market and I’m open to giving things a shot. I will describe the review protocol in the post itself at that point unless some type of product becomes popular; at which point I’ll devote a paragraph to it.
