  • Flowerhouse – Permanent Marker (3.5 grams)

I love Permanent Marker. Like a lot. I tried a bootleg version of it shipped in from Cali that I got at a festival awhile back and ever since then, I pick it up every time a dispensary offers it or a grower grows it. I just really like it. It’s a good indica that doesn’t wallop me. So when I went into Black Market Canna and they had this for $20 out the door, I was BEYOND stoked. But will it live up to the hype that is Permanent marker? Let’s see…

  • What I Learned At Hall Of Flowers NYC 2025

Being disabled often means making lemons into lemonade, so I’m used to it. Hell, I’ve got to the point that I’m making limoncello, lemon soap, candied lemon peel, whatever. Life gives me lemons…I don’t waste them. I extract all the value I can get out of life as best I can. And, in the case of Hall of Flowers, I did the same thing.

  • What I Learned At Revelry Buyers’ Club (Fall, NYC, 2025)

Whew, it’s been a whirlwind since I went to Revelry Buyers’ Club on the 12th of September. Apologies for being so late on this but I had to do a week’s worth of ertapenem infusions to combat the infection I’ve had for the past five years. I managed to stabilize myself to go but it took a toll on me that only hospital stays could correct.

    *Ahem*

I love going to trade events because it’s the easiest way to learn how little I know. I’m not saying this because it’s a bad thing, far from it. The less I know, the more I get to learn and baby, I LOVE learning. From the grand schemes of things to the minute details, I love learning the ins and outs of things. It’s the engineer in me; it just craves knowledge. And boy howdy did I learn a lot at this Revelry Buyers’ Club. I attended on the 12th, the industry day, as I couldn’t deal with the crowds on the 13th for the festival due to my illness. My body only let me do about 5 hours of pure, unfettered wandering before it kinda crapped out but in those five hours…I learned so much. So, so much. So, as is tradition, I present to you: What I Learned at Revelry Buyers’ Club, updated for the Fall of 2025 NYC event. Let’s jump in, shall we?

  • Smyth Cannabis – Pinky’s Advice (1 g Pre-Roll)

I’ve had Pinky’s Advice before and I liked it. It was a good sativa, not too heady, not too panicky, not too worrisome. So when I saw that Smyth Cannabis was growing it, I was enthused. Good strain? Check. Great brand? Checkaroo. So I picked it up. Simple as that, really. Anyway, here’s the review.

  • The Pass – Snowcaine (1 g Pre-roll)

Lately, I’ve been defaulting to sativas. It’s not that I don’t like indicas, far from it. I LOVE indicas and indica leaning hybrids. But the problem is, while it works for pain…it makes me useless. I consume it and suddenly I’m waking up from a two hour nap that just kinda…happened. So, I’ve been sticking with sativas/sativa hybrids to find something to help me with my anxiety et. al., all while remaining a functional human being. I was recommended this strain by the budtender at The Pass and I figured I’d give it a whirl. Notes are as follows.

  • Your Highness – Glitter Bomb (1 g Pre-Roll)

I picked this one up for one sole reason: I like Glitter Bomb. I’ve had The Pass’ Glitter Bomb before and I really enjoyed it because it was an indica that worked on pain that I could also write on and be functional above and beyond some that I had tried previously. So naturally it stood out as I’ve been struggling with the “don’t take a canna-nap” deal. So, when I saw this on the menu, I thought “Oh boy! This’ll be perfect!” And I was partly right…

    Anyway, here’s the review:

    Strain name: Glitter Bomb
    Strain type: Hybrid (Indica-dominant)
    Percentage: 28.51% TAC
    Date of production: Unknown
Date of testing (if applicable): 3/10/25
Where Purchased (if applicable): The Pass
    Price (if applicable): $11.99(?)
    Amount smoked: .5 gram

Grind: Medium-fine grind. It’s kinda pebbly, in a way. It may be how I manage to get the cannabis out of the tube (I do it by rolling it gently until it falls out) but it’s small pieces, all uniform, little to no stems that I’ve found.

Aroma: It’s almost like a basil syrup. It’s got a heady sweetness to it, almost like honeysuckle, bolstered by a bracing grip of basil straight from the garden. Hints of…dill, too?

Taste: I get just straight up licorice. Is that right? That can’t be right. But seriously, it’s got a very prominent licorice taste to me. Sweet but herbal in a cough drop (positive) way kinda thing. Very nice smoking.

High: Oh this Glitter Bomb. This Glitter Bomb is a tricky little strain. The high itself is great, don’t get me wrong. It’s bright and bubbly, almost like an ice cold soda on a hot day. You’re creative, your cognizant, you’re serene, and you’re introspective. Honestly, a GREAT high. Just like the one I mentioned earlier. But the problem with this one is that it gives me the munchies the worst out of any strain I have consumed in the past…3 years. Oh my word, it’s like a compulsion to eat, it’s so bad. It’s good if you want to meditate or do something creative but only if you can curb those cravings REAL hard.

Oooooh, I’m so mad. The high on this stuff is great stuff but it comes with a caveat so huge that I don’t think I can recommend it. The high is so good though. I guess if you are less prone to eating while inebriated and need to be, this would be a good one for you. I did use it to that extent with some success when I was doing ertapenem infusions that made me nauseous so there’s that avenue. If you need to be hungry and aren’t, or you can be a better person than I and quell those munchies…then this strain is great for you. Otherwise, you will eat like a fiend.

I do have some The Pass Glitter Bomb (outdoor grown, not indoor like I previously tried) so I may try that soon. I keep it in The Locker, which is a box filled with miscellaneous eighths and such that I keep humidified. I feel like I wanna get on the Glitter Bomb train but this strain is just a station that I gotta skip.

  • Aura Canna Co – DDD (1g Pre-Roll)

I’m not a gambling man in the traditional sense. I enjoy blackjack, sure, but there’s no game of chance where I’d lay money on the line for the thrill of it. I’m just that risk-averse. However, this differs when I’m hitting up The Pass or Grounded or Black Market…it differs a LOT. I turn into a Kenny Rogers song at that point because my love of the “dealer’s choice” is unfathomable. I’ve been thinking about why I like it so much and I’ve come to a conclusion of two parts. One, I like the randomness of it. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved those $1 grab bags you used to see at stores and I was a sucker that’d buy one every time. Second…I like getting a little glimpse into the mind of the person behind the counter. Asking what they like gives me a little bit of information about their tastes and likes and it makes it easier to find a budtender that I mesh with for future purchases. So it’s a win win. This strain, DDD by Aura Canna Co, is one of those roulette spins, so to speak. But enough of me talking, here’s the review.

    Strain name: DDD

    Strain type: Indica-Hybrid

    Percentage: 26.01% TAC

    Date of production: 1/27/2025

Date of testing (if applicable): 1/02/25

Where Purchased (if applicable): The Pass

    Price (if applicable): $9.99

    Amount smoked: 1 gram

Grind (if applicable): Medium to fine, with some larger chunks in there but no stem material whatsoever.

Nose: Very earthy and…deep, is the only way I can put it. It’s got almost like a loamy kind of smell, along with a vegetal smell that’s like thyme or rosemary but blended with dirt. It smells very good, don’t get me wrong. It’s just an intensely soil and foliage smell, like cut grass and herbs next to a pile of humus. Very delightful.

Taste: Follows the nose, really. I can’t get much more than “earthy” above the tobacco in the spliff but it’s a very welcome taste, like the taste of the air after it’s rained. It’s nice.

High: I like this stuff. It’s almost a duality of sorts when it comes to the high. In smaller, lighter doses, you’re pretty functional in terms of getting stuff done. You can putter around the house and cook, clean, organize, whatever. It doesn’t make you overwhelmingly leaden or stupefied…until you go for a higher dose. At higher doses, this is some Cheech and Chong level of smoke. The high makes you silly, oblivious, and very inquisitive. I remember thinking to myself, at one point, “Do frogs and toads compete against each other to see who’s the superior amphibian?” Also, it leaves you quite pensive. I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out how to pronounce the name. Is it like King Dedede? Is it Triple D? Is it 3D? Is it Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives? Who knows. I certainly couldn’t figure it out.

This stuff is pretty solid, I have to say. I’m not sure it’s a strain I would trip over myself to seek out (like my all-time favorite Permanent Marker) but it’s a good strain. The taste is good, the smell is good, the effect on target is good AND long lasting (about 2.5-3hrs) so it’s a good choice. It’s definitely a strain that you’d smoke in a library with a pipe and a snifter of brandy and ponder the huge questions in life like “Why do I like Guy Fieri so much?” Seriously though, ever since I typed the triple D above I’ve been binging Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. The Fieri is strong in my office these days. Anyway, pick it up, I think it’s worth a shot.

  • Solid Foundations (Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bong)

My first foray into the cannabis industry.

Hey, it’s me. Never thought I’d be starting a new website again but here we are, same new website, different topic. I wanted to give you a little background about myself and where I come from to fill you in on things so let’s get right down to it, shall we? Best not to mince words (although I tend to be loquacious at times), so let’s dive in.

    Who Am I?

My name is Bacchus and I run In With Bacchus, a website dedicated to the hedonistic pleasures of life. It is a website dedicated to booze, wine, tobacco, and food. But why start a new website when you have a perfectly good website already running? Good question, dear reader. Let me give you a little information about me and then we’ll dive into that. To start, I have a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester (Class of 2010) and Masters of Science in Brewing and Distilling Science from Heriot-Watt University (Class of 2011). I have dedicated my whole life to the cause of alcohol in all forms and therein lies the problem because…

…as of 2021, I can no longer drink.

Imagine being someone that’s literally slavishly studied the minutiae of alcohol and yet cannot drink? It’s what I dedicated my life to from 2010 onward and then, BAM, I could no longer drink spirits, wine, beer, or anything in between. Why? Well, I became disabled. And, when one becomes as disabled as me, what becomes necessary is pain management, to forge some semblance of life instead of existence. So I had to trade my love, my joi de vivre, my passion…for the ability to not scream myself awake every day. It was, honestly…a tough call to make but I had to make it. I loved booze that much. I can still sip and spit but I’m on so many medicines (antibiotics, mainly) that I can’t consume it AT ALL to prevent the antibiotics from losing efficacy. What is one to do in that situation, then?

Well, you trade one intoxicant for another.

In truth, it started in 2022. My pain management regimen wasn’t fantastic but it was better than being on no pain management. I talked to my doctor about non-narcotic options as the option I was on was heavily narcotic (fentanyl transdermal patches, 25 mcg/hr q48) and I didn’t want to add more fuel to the fire, so to speak. He recommended cannabis and I was willing to try it. So we went went to MA to buy some (as NY was legal but had no dispensaries), I tried it and it worked well. It couldn’t replace the medicine I was already on but it was a non-narcotic option to help bridge the gaps. As time grew, and I learned more and more, it started sparking the same love that I had for alcohol. I soft-tested the waters on my other website in 2023 with coverage of an event but it wasn’t until I was freelanced to do coverage of Revelry Buyers’ Club via Chronogram that I committed. With that, and my subsequent coverage on my website (greenlit by my editor), I decided to take the plunge and start anew; roughly same topic but different adulterant.

    What Do You Do?

This website, first and foremost, is a way for me to learn and a repository of my thoughts. I love learning and since I’m so new to the industry and the concept, I’ve got a long way to go. I’m still getting down terpenes and figuring out the intricacies of solvent/solventless extraction, among a massive mountain of other topics I haven’t even broached yet. So this will mostly be me trying to learn as much as I can about a topic I love. I’ll be doing this through reviews of all SORTS of products that are cannabis and/or cannabis-related, event coverage, editorials, and occasionally journalistic things. I tend to favor gonzo journalism in my writing as I feel that the reporter cannot be separated from the event that’s going on. I don’t believe that a reporter can be that detached and, frankly, if I’m going to be attached, I might as well have fun with it. At the end of the day, these are just my thoughts and opinions, no more than that. I will be (often) wrong as I grow and progress through things and I ask you to bear with me as my stance on things will probably change as I learn and experience more. I go by a rigorous scientific standard, for the most part, in my reviews, hence the open and transparent review methods tab to tell you exactly what I’m doing at all times. This website will probably never have ads or make money, either. I’m not doing it for that. I -will- do sponsored posts as I feel that’s a good compromise on my end but you will always get the truth from me.

Where Are You Gonna Do It?

Well, in my office for one. But I’d like to be on-site for as much as I can. I’d love to tour processing and manufacturing facilities, visit farms, talk with people in the field, and just get into the nitty-gritty of things. To begin, and I think for the most part, I’ll be focusing on the cannabis markets of both New York and Massachusetts. I’m excited to see the growth of New York (which is still VERY much in it’s infancy stage) and also see the subtle trends in the more developed Massachusetts market as well. I love learning so I will go wherever my body can physically take me. Which brings me to the next point…

    When Will You Do It?

This is a tough one. I am, at my core, disabled so I have to put that first and foremost. I’d love to have the money and the strength to travel around the US (or the world, really) covering this but for now it will have to be at my own pace. Things may be slow in the beginning as I’m going in for extended experimental treatment to resolve some outstanding medical issues and that’s currently taking an EXORBITANT amount of time, energy, and effort to manage. So things may be slow at the beginning. But hopefully I’ll be able to ramp up later on once things die down and I can restructure my life to progress instead of exist. So, I’ll be doing things on my own time. Sorry if you’re expecting consistency at this point; my body just can’t handle it.

    Why Are You Doing It?

Also a good question. I’ve discussed this prior but I love learning and I want a repository of my thoughts. But I also want to bring a voice to the cannabis sphere that, I feel, is under-represented: the medically lost. There is medical cannabis in both states I plan on covering but, from what I’ve seen, people don’t seem willing to talk frankly and honestly about their disabilities and how cannabis affects them. It’s very difficult to be open with people about disability because it’s such a touchy, highly personal topic but I strive to bring another voice to the chorus of the disabled. So that’s another reason why I’m doing it. Lastly, I just think it’ll be fun. When you’re disabled, you got a lot of time. It’s time usually spent managing the day-in/day-out chores that come with being handicapped: managing medicine, scheduling doctor’s appointments, filling out forms, arguing with insurance, hanging out in hospitals/offices, etc. I need something fun in my life to counterbalance that and I think talking about my journey with cannabis will fit the bill perfectly.

So yeah, that’s me in a nutshell. That should give you a pretty good glimpse into my life, my motivations, and my drives for doing this. I hope that I’ve convinced you, in at least some way, of coming with me on this journey. I can’t promise you that it’ll be smooth sailing; nothing with a disability is but I’ll try to update things as best I can with news, reviews, interviews, coverage, and everything in between as I see fit and as I find interesting. If you have anything you want me to cover or review or talk to or WHATEVER, feel free to contact me using the contact form at the top of the page and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Until then, thanks for reading and I hope to see you again.

    Sincerely,
    CannaBacchus

  • Hello world! CannaBacchus here.

Website is under construction. Please bear with! I’m disabled and this takes a lotta time.
