Ravens View Genetics – Kashmir (2 x .5 gram Pre-Rolls)

I’m a sucker for land-race strains. I dunno what it is about them that gets to me but it really tickles my fancy. I guess it’s seeing where cannabis came from, almost like smoking an archaeology trip. Seeing the beginnings of something is often the best way of understanding the progression of things and, boy howdy has cannabis progressed. While even land-races are susceptible to selective breeding (i.e. picking the strongest, the prettiest, the most productive), they still are genetic precursors to a lot of the strains we have today because the idea of genetics and cross-breeding just…wasn’t thought of back then. It was just…cannabis, nothing special, just a crop to use and enjoy. So I guess it’s the simpler genetics and historical terroir that I like. That being said, let’s get to business on how the Ravens View Genetics land-race stacks up to some of the others that I’ve had.

Strain name: Kashmir (?)
Strain type: Sativa
Percentage: 15.5%
Date of production/expiration: Expires 10/12/26
Date of testing (if applicable): N/A
Where Purchased (if applicable): Dutchess Roots
Price (if applicable): $14
Amount smoked: 1 gram
Grind (if applicable): Medium grind. Some of what I think are small bud stems which I’m not actually mad about in a landrace as they tend to not be as…heavily genetically optimized like today’s cannabis.
Aroma: Absolutely divine. This smells HEAVILY like a REAL citrus soda, like a Boylans. Something made with fresh citrus oils and sugar. It’s sweet and fragrant, with heavy orange notes.
Taste: It tastes like an orange creamsicle, I swear to everything. It’s delicious.
High: The high isn’t really a high, it’s a glow. In terms of efficacy, it’s pretty functional in it’s high. You’re elevated and awake but not wired. Body high is extremely limited, this is all in the head. It’s a very nice high, very buzzy, chatty, and work-focused. Of the pure sativas I’ve had, this is one that I actually like because I’ve found that this gives a bit of a zen-like edge to it that keeps my anxiety from triggering and me spiraling. It’s just…comfortable.

In terms of pure sativas, this is the best high I’ve got off one of them and I think it just goes to show that shopping by THC just isn’t the way to go. This stuff clocks low at 15.5% but because of the terpenes, it smokes like it sits comfortably in the 24% range It has a subtle but encompassing high that you’d get from something in the higher ranges with the ease and lack of intensity that you get with a low testing strain. In terms of a landrace, it’s ALSO one of the better ones I’ve had. I haven’t had a WHOLE lot of them but this one definitely takes the cake in that category too. It just has a vibrancy to it, in terms of effect, aroma, and flavor that is so complex to me that it firmly beats every other landrace strain that I’ve had. Truly a stellar product. I just wish that it retailed a little lower (but I get why it retails higher) in price so I could hoard it. Or at least have it come in 3.5g containers for…say…$40? Yeah, I’d really stock up if that happened.

They also recently introduced a NEW Landrace Series, coincidentally with the High Times Non-Infused Pre-roll Judges Bag, so I’ll have to make a trip to a non-local dispensary just to get a hold of one. Because I’m DEFINITELY trying the other one. No doubt about it.
