Note: Sample provided by a friend.

I’ve been exploring the cannabis industry in NY for close to a year now (I think I registered the website on 5/23) and, in that time, I’ve made a few friends. It’s cool making friends in the cannabis space because, truth be told, they have opinions and are willing to share them with you. And a lot of those opinions are about cannabis. Which they are weirdly gung-ho about sharing as well. So when I was bemoaning not being able to find the Puna Budazz from Ravens View Genetics, a friend of mine nearly jumped at the chance to get me a sample. She strongly believed in the RVG ethos and wanted me to try it, come hell or high water. After one slightly sketchy meet-up in a parking lot, I had samples of the Puna Budazz in hand. I let them mellow a tiny bit in my humidor (yes, I have a cannabis humidor) because I had a few prior reviews I had committed to doing. I decided I’d pull them out for 4/20 and enjoy them then. Well, the day arrived and I pulled ’em so here are my thoughts!
Strain name: Puna Budazz
Strain type: Indica landrace
Percentage: 15.75% TAC
Date of production: N/A
Date of testing (if applicable): N/A
Where Purchased (if applicable): Gift From Friend
Price (if applicable): N/A
Amount smoked: 1 g
Grind (if applicable): Very fine for flower. Almost like a medium-fine coffee grind. Very small, pebble-like bits and bobs. No stems.
Aroma: It straight up smells like honey with an herbal tinge to it, almost like some really good wildflower honey. Slight note of chocolate too, maybe? It smells good.
Taste: Kinda lackluster. It’s got a mute flavor of “flowers”, very floral like lilac and lavender. Hint of some woody/spicy notes too.
High: When I smoke, it’s rare that I get high before I enter the house from smoking but this did it. It’s a peaceable high but not overwhelming. Very good for my anxiety because it’s a calming (but not sedating) high that also has a certain cerebral fix to it. It’s very easy to write while also maintaining a consistent tranquility of mind and body. Word recollection is a bit stunted by not bad by a long-shot. Definitely a strain you can smoke all day and not be completely blotto.
Aside from the slightly lackluster taste, this is another winner from Ravens View Genetics. Much like their previous landrace, the Puna Budazz punches above its weight in terms of TAC. Sitting very low at 15.75% TAC, I’d say this smokes more like a 22% TAC strain. It’s potent but easy going, smells incredible, and maintains an ease to it that allows for all-day consumption, if necessary. A equally good strain for both winding down at night or squashing the growing anxiety in your chest, this one is definitely a winner. Honestly, I’m really enjoying Ravens View Genetics. They got a solid core line (more on that in a later post) and their Landrace series always seems to surprise and enthrall me so they’re doing good work. It’s also affordable, which is nice. Definitely a slept on brand, I think. I dunno why it doesn’t get the juice that other brands get but I’m firmly in the camp of “like” Ravens View Genetics.
Also, I love having friends.
